Hailsham Theatres are staging ‘Oh What A Lovely War’ as part of the Hailsham Arts Festival 20th-22nd September commemorating the centenary year of the end of WW1
We are looking for a few more players – particularly to play soldiers and officers – playing age 18-40 for soldiers and 40 to 60 for senior officers.
As you probably know, it’s a musical set during the First World War. Written in the 1960’s, it’s a satire on Imperialism, Nationalism and Class, which (the script suggests) were behind the underlying causes of the war and resulted in the futility of sacrifice. However, there are plenty of light scenes for comic relief.
There are many named parts in the vignettes interlinked with musical numbers. Singing will be required. Flexibility with holiday absences, of course.
Rehearsals nights are Monday and Thursday eves. Perfs 20th to 22nd Sept.
